Design Philosophy

“I listen intently to you, my client and design what you want that fits within your budget. I ask a lot of questions concerning your lifestyle, how you function, and the concepts and ideas you like. Plus the style of architecture you prefer.

This is not to say I don’t offer pros, cons and options; I do, but my role as a designer is to take your dreams and create a home that is yours, not mine. Many clients have a scrapbook of ideas to generate discussion, this is an excellent tool.”

Design Process:

After the initial meeting, (anywhere from one hour to several,) we’ll begin to develop simple sketches to sort out ideas and determine what works and what doesn’t.

We then refine the design by inputting it to AutoCad software; this allows the ideas to be drawn to scale to see if design requirements are met. A preliminary set of floor plans and elevations are presented to the clients for review and comment.

Requested changes are documented and executed, a revised set of plans follows. This generally doesn’t take more than two series of revisions if all issues have been addressed.

Once the clients are satisfied with the preliminary plans, they authorize Designed Living, Inc. to proceed with the complete set of construction/bid/permit documents.
